Background:

My practice began in 1963.  Over the past twenty seven years I have been primarily engaged in the field of real estate title insurance law. I have represented national title insurance carriers in coverage disputes, advising them with respect to coverage issues of large claims involving real properties located in Colorado and numerous other states (California, Alaska, Arizona, Utah, Kansas, Illinois).

In addition, I have represented title insurance policy holders, such as owners of commercial properties (shopping centers, apartment complexes, industrial properties), homeowners, farmers, and ranchers, and commercial lending institutions, with respect to real estate title claims by third parties. I have represented property owners in rural and outlying parts of Colorado and adjoining states in disputes over road access to their properties, and have considerable experience in the area of private eminent domain .

Throughout my years in the practice of law, I have also represented clients throughout Colorado, especially in Boulder County, in land use matters (rezoning, planned unit developments, special use permits).

Much of my work involved litigation and appeals to the Colorado appellate courts, as well as the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. I have argued cases before  the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and participated in appeals in Ohio, Illinois, and the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
