Up to the Moment

  • Joel Davis, as a former Boulder City Council member, participated in the Boulder sesquicentennial celebration at City Hall in early March.  In acknowledgement of his status as a historical figure, Joel has since given an oral history interview for the Boulder Public Library history collection.
  • Peter Dietze, Joel Davis and Karl Kumli attended the 25th Anniversary dinner of the Boulder County Bar Foundation on Sunday, March 8.  David Thrower was inducted as a new member of the Foundation at the meeting, completing a silver anniversary circle of sorts, since Joel Davis was celebrated as one of the founding trustees of the Foundation.  David joins Peter, Joel Davis, Karl, Joel Maguire and Carmen Danielson as current members of the Foundation.  The purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial support for legally related charitable institutions as diverse as the Immigration Legal Center, the Native American Rights Foundation and the St. Vrain Parenting Center.
  • Karl also traveled to Boston in late February to attend the mid-year meeting of the National Conference of Bar Presidents.  Karl will take the reins of the Boulder County Bar Association at the end of June, 2009.  Steve Closky served as BCBA President from 2006-2007, and so will be on-call to keep Karl on the straight and narrow through his presidency.
  • Josh Anderson and Karl Kumli attended a recent Colorado Energy Summit to further their knowledge of how funds from the economic stimulus legislation will be made available in the Colorado energy industry.
  • Carmen Danielson is heading up the effort to redesign the D&D office suite.

New Admittees Reception

  • Since 2004, Dietze and Davis, P.C. has hosted a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception for recent admittees to the Colorado Bar and 3L students from the University of Colorado School of Law.  The reception, held on the atrium terrace in our Siena Square building, provides an introduction to the Boulder legal community and allows for the collegial integration of new members of the Bar.  Dietze and Davis, P.C. is pleased to host this event in partnership with the Boulder County Bar Association, and thanks BCBA Executive Director Christine Hylbert for her outstanding work to integrate young lawyers into the practice.

Awards

  • Early 2009 saw Tucker Katz of D&D nominated for the Gary McPherson Award as Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year by the Colorado Bar Association.  Tucker was named as one of three finalists statewide, which is a tremendous honor in itself.
  • Peter Dietze has received the Distinguished Alumnus in Private Practice Award from the University of Colorado Law School Alumni Association.  The award was presented at a banquet in Denver on March 12, 2009.  Congratulations, Peter!
  • Karl Kumli was recently named as a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation, where he joins Peter Dietze and Joel Maguire as fellow fellows.
