Peter Dietze’s distinguished practice began in 1963. In 2007, he was awarded the Boulder County Bar Association’s Ron Porter Award of Merit, recognizing his outstanding achievement, dedication to the legal profession and selfless service to the community. Peter’s practice includes the field of real estate title insurance law, representing national title insurance carriers in coverage disputes and counseling clients with respect to coverage issues of large claims involving real properties located in Colorado and numerous other states. He represents policy holders, including owners of commercial properties (industrial properties, shopping centers, apartment complexes), homeowners, farmers, and ranchers, and commercial lending institutions, with respect to real estate title claims by third parties. Peter’s practice also includes land use matters (rezoning, planned unit developments, special use permits) and litigation and appeals in the state and federal court systems.
Joel Davis has been recognized as one of The Best Lawyers In America for 25 years. After graduating from the University of Colorado’s law school in 1962, he worked for one year as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Boulder. He then went to work for Title Guaranty Company, which merged with Transamerica Title Insurance Company. He managed the Boulder office of Transamerica Title for five years, during some of the most vigorous growth experienced by the City of Boulder. In the fall of 1965, Joel was elected to a four-year term on the Boulder City Council. In 1968, Joel joined the Denver law firm of Davis, Graham and Stubbs, and became a partner in that firm shortly thereafter. His work with that firm generally related to real estate development. In 1972, he returned to Boulder to continue his practice, joining with Peter Dietze to form the firm of Dietze and Davis. Joel's personal practice has been primarily in the areas of real estate law and estate planning.

Robyn Kube joined Dietze and Davis, P.C., in 1983, while a first-year law student at the University of Colorado. She became an associate in 1985 and a shareholder in 1996. Robyn is admitted to the Colorado Bar and to practice before the U.S. District Court of Colorado. Robyn’s practice focuses on all aspects of real estate law, including transactional work and litigation. She has written about access issues in Colorado, authoring “Access at Last: The Use of Private Condemnation” (29 Colo.Law. 77), and is a speaker on access issues and methods for resolving boundary disputes. Her other areas of practice include title insurance law, civil litigation and appeals, and mediation. Robyn has co-chaired both the real estate and alternative dispute resolution sections of the Boulder County Bar Association. She was a long-time member and officer of the Boulder County Safehouse Support Guild, and co-chaired the Chocolate Lovers Fling in 1990-1991.

Karl Kumli has been practicing law since 1981. Karl’s practice is limited to public utility (electricity and natural gas matters) and water rights law. Karl represents clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, Colorado Water Courts and the district and appellate courts of Colorado. Karl represents governmental entities, private businesses and individuals. A 1978 graduate of Stanford University, Karl is admitted to all courts in Colorado, as well as being admitted to practice in California. Karl particularly enjoys working with water and energy clients to meet long-term resource challenges and needs. Karl is active in the Boulder County Bar Association, where he is President-elect and will serve president in 2009-2010. Karl hosts the television program Law & Justice which is a joint effort of the Bar Association and Cable Channel 8. Karl has been selected to participate in the Colorado Bar and Bighorn Center Leadership Training Programs and has been selected as a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation.
David was born in Colorado on May 26, 1969. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1991, where he majored in History/Political Science and was on the Dean’s List. David received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Creighton University School of Law, Omaha, Nebraska in 1994, where he placed first in a National Law Student Legal Writing Competition.
David is a Member of the Colorado Bar Association and Boulder Bar Association, as well as several civic and charitable organizations. He has practiced in Boulder since 1995. His areas of practice include transactions, entity formation, general business matters, estate planning, local government law, municipal prosecution, and landlord/tenant matters.
Joel Maguire graduated magna cum laude from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado with a degree in Political Science. He is a 1978 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law and has practiced in Boulder for over 25 years. Concentrating in civil litigation, he represents plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal civil cases, trials, and appeals. His appellate experience includes seventeen published decisions. Joel and his family live in Niwot and he has been actively involved with numerous organizations in that area, including the Niwot Optimist Club, Niwot Community Association, Niwot Youth Sports, and the Niwot High School Education Foundation. He has served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Boulder Country Club and is a Past President of the Club. He is a member of the Boulder County and Colorado Bar Associations, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
Renée Ezer graduated from the University of Colorado in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Following graduation, she worked in the area of international real estate syndication. After graduating from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1986, Renée’s practice included trust and estate administration, estate planning and tax law in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1996 and 1997, Renée served as law clerk for the Honorable Richard McLean and the Honorable Carol Glowinsky, Boulder District Court Judges. Her current practice focuses on resolving conflicts through compromise or litigation in the administration of estates and trusts, guardianship and conservatorship law, and estate and trust administration. Renée also serves as a mediator in estate and trust-related disputes. She is admitted to all courts in Colorado, as well as being admitted to practice in California.
Stephen A. Closky served as President of the 1,300 member Boulder County Bar Association in 2006-2007. He received his law degree from the American University/Washington College of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a graduate of the Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. Steve has a sophisticated divorce, family law and domestic relations practice, including alimony, maintenance, child support and child custody matters. He typically represents successful professionals, executives, business owners and beneficiaries of family trusts and has significant experience handling complex divorce-related marital property, business, trust, retirement, executive compensation and real estate matters. Steve has practiced law since 1994. Prior to joining Dietze and Davis as a shareholder in 2006, Steve enjoyed practicing divorce and family law as a sole practitioner for Stephen A. Closky, P.C. He has also served as a staff attorney for the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, Illinois. Steve is a member of the Boulder County and Colorado Bar Associations. Steve lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two children. He enjoys biking, hiking and skiing with his family.
Carmen Danielson graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1987. Carmen's practice emphasizes all aspects of employment law, including civil rights, contracts, wage and hour laws, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, independent contractors, wrongful discharge, discrimination and harassment, executive contracts and personnel handbooks. She provides advice and counsel to clients on their rights and obligations related to a wide variety of employment and contract-related issues. Carmen has extensive experience handling state and federal civil cases and appeals. She was selected by the Boulder County Bar Association as its "Outstanding Young Lawyer" of the year in 1997, and as an “Outstanding Committee Member” by the Colorado Women’s Bar Association. She is a frequent lecturer and author on topics related to employment law.
Tucker M. Katz graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2005. Tucker is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and is a Co-Chair of the Boulder County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division. In 2005 and 2006, Tucker served as a law clerk for the Honorable James C. Klein of the Twentieth Judicial District, Boulder County District Court.
Tucker currently represents clients in the areas of dissolution of marriage, legal separation, annulment, allocation of parental responsibilities, child custody, visitation, child relocation and removal, domestic violence and dependency and neglect.
A Colorado native, Josh Anderson attended the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, where he received his Bachelor's of Science in Finance. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2007. Josh competed in the 2007 National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare and Adoption Law, where he received the award for 3rd Place Best Oralist. Following law school, Josh clerked for the Honorable Lael E. Montgomery of the 20th Judicial District, Boulder County District Court.
Josh represents clients in all areas of civil litigation, however, his primary field is in domestic relations. This includes matters such as dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support and support modification, domestic violence and child relocation and removal.


Mark’s practice involves matters related to water rights, energy, transactions, corporations and real property. His experience in Colorado Water Courts includes adjudication of tributary and nontributary water rights and plans for augmentation, changes of water rights and exchanges. His experience before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission includes electric resource planning, transmission, energy efficiency dockets and rulemakings. In addition, his practice involves legislative and policy work, corporate matters, public land matters, real estate/easement related matters and renewable energy and energy efficiency project development. Originally from New York, Mr. Detsky is a 2003 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law and a 1997 graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. In 2004, he was attorney for the Amendment 37 campaign, which resulted in the first popular vote on passage of a renewable energy standard in the United States. Mark has published articles on changes of water rights, ditch company easements and wind and solar energy. Mark also published a novel, entitled As Fast As It Is Gone, in 2007.

Star attended the University of Wisconsin Law School and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1979. She began her legal career with the law firm of Hall & Evans, with a practice emphasis in natural resources law and water law. A large part of Star’s practice consists of representing individual farmers and groups of agricultural water users, developers, lenders, municipalities and ditch companies in matters involving real estate and water law issues. Ms. Waring has represented clients in litigation in state courts, including water courts in Water Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 5, U.S. District Courts, the Colorado Supreme Court and U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal in the 8th, 9th and 10th Circuits. Further, Star has represented clients in several tribal courts throughout the western United States. Star has testified before the Colorado legislature on pending legislation affecting water rights. She has represented well owners in virtually every type of matter involving ground water rights. Her practice includes representation of clients who have initiated or are opposing water court applications including augmentation plans.
